The Oldchurch Recruitment Centre
The Oldchurch Recruitment Centre is a construction brokerage which was set up to encourage local people to work on the construction of the £200 million New Romford Hospital in Essex. The brokerage was established in March 2004 and is a joint initiative between Jobcentre Plus and Bovis Lendlease, the main site contractor and the organisation responsible for managing the building of the new hospital on behalf of the Barking, Havering & Redbridge NHS Trust.
Oldchurch serves the needs of the main contractor, Bovis Lendlease and sub-contractors on the construction site. It recruits local people into all types of construction roles and into administrative and clerical positions. In 2004-2005, 205 people out of a total of 674 who gained employment were unemployed and claiming benefits.
The brokerage employs two members of staff.
